Sticking with my Hollywood Cartoon Noir Caper idea, my story needs a hero.
Sticking with my Hollywood Cartoon Noir Caper idea, my story needs a hero.
I had been struggling with this idea over the past few days. I wanted Andrew Sisters type singers from the 40’s. I had major issues with the pose I wanted them to have among other problems. I don’t know if it was because I took a change of scenery this afternoon and spent a few hours at a Coffee Bean and read for a bit and sketched. But I was able to get the poses I wanted.
I came across a picture of a movie star and her director directing a scene. So I drew my version.

I was looking at some pictures of Rita Hayworth this afternoon and inspired the following sketches.
This is the second drawing I did last night (I couldn’t sleep) I’m hoping that maybe sharing the story concept and bouncing ideas off with my friend next week might help solve my ending dilemma.
I have had an idea for an animated short that goes back to my college days. It is a Hollywood caper that involves a 1940’s cartoon movie star, a 1920’s silent cartoon movie star and a private eye. I’ve had some story problems, like how to end it. But every now and then the project resurfaces and the following concept art sketches came out last night. My dream is to see this idea on a big screen one day!

Yesterday I received the cutest letter in the mail by my beautiful niece Gaby (Elias’ baby girl). She asked if I had fun with “your Brother.” during his visit out to California a couple of weeks ago. She didn’t say “my Daddy” no “your brother” I thought that was cute. Anyway it turns out she likes to draw and write. She sent me this beautiful work of art so I decided to post it. Thank You Gaby!!!
A few years ago I was asked to do some concept art for a slasher film “Appetites-The movie” So since Halloween is creeping upon us I decided to revisit Daisy and my “darkside”
What would a silent cartoon movie star dressed up for a premier or awards ceremony look like? I think she’d look like this…
A few weeks ago I drew this in the middle of the night. It was one of those moments when I was so inspired I didn’t care what time it was.
So today I decided to play around with the idea a little more.
